Last August we had the opportunity to participate in the annual NUS Business Analytics Capstone Project where we propose a case study that we are currently working, here at Cakeplabs on a mission to save the trust score in Indonesia, we went ahead and propose a case study to NUS, titled:

Mannerism: Machine learning to determine Manner Score of users for credit scoring model for SMEs”

In brief, the problems that we are trying to tackle here in Cakeplabs and Chaca Market is to define the trust score here in Indonesia. As the country is set to digital development, many of it’s country population have no experience in using technology, and the skepticism of online presence. As digital law in Indonesia are not concrete yet and the cyber world is still an open ground, many irresponsible parties would try to take the opportunity to claim benefits from people suffering, these schemes involve scams, phishing, identity theft, OTP scam, and many more.

Many efforts have been made to ensure these scheme to fail, however this comes at a cost of their identity card (KTP), the process involved the user submitting their identity card and a photo of themselves with the card (a selfie with the card is being held), as this process manage to prevent some of the security risks. However, the bigger risk is when hacking happens. As mentioned before, Indonesia's digital world can be considered new, alongside the security, infrastructure, and law around it isn’t strong enough to prevent all of these cyber attack.

As such, Cakeplabs is determined to develop ways to find a new way to improve the trust score here in Indonesia.

We are delighted that we had the opportunity to submit a research proposal to one of the respected university in Singapore, the National University of Singapore or NUS in short, we took the opportunity to draft and submit a case study to them around Mid August.

In a matter of days, we receive an email that our project titled have been taken by Group 6 consisted of:

·         Darren Lim Wei Yang

·         Lim Si Tian

·         Venkatesh Babu Dakshitaa

·         Seng See Yin Deanna

·         Jermaine Tang Chor Yee

As the project runs from August until November, both Cakeplabs and the group assign to us shared our resources and knowledge that we had acquired previously, initiating meetings to ensure that the project would benefit both us and the student. After a while, we did our preliminary research exchange where we had a meeting to share our progress so far.
